In order to ensure efficiency of the use of railway infrastructure and to develop domestic freight transportation, as well as to provide a cost-competitive offer with road transport, JSC “LatRailNet” has decided to reduce the railway infrastructure charges of the transportation of wood chip freight services. This new market segment is a step towards the direction of the achievement of the performance indicators set out in national transport policy planning documents and the development of railway transport connections with Lithuania.
On April 18, 2024, JSC “LatRailNet” has adopted the Board’s decision No. JALP-1.3/2-2024 (min. No.JALP-1.2/19-2024) “On approval of amendments to the “The Charging Scheme” charges for the minimum access service package and access to the infrastructure connecting the infrastructure to the service facilities, to the market segment “wood chip freight services within domestic network and European Economic Area””.
The infrastructures charges for the market segment “wood chip freight services within domestic network and European Economic Area” for the period starting from the 22th of April 2024 are determined as follows:
1,25 euro per train km (without value added tax)
2,77 euro per wagon (without value added tax)
0,00132096 euro per gross tonne km (without value added tax)
The approved infrastructure charges will come into force on April 22, 2024. JSC “LatRailNEt” has determined the transitional period for the development of infrastructure manager accounting systems during the period from April 22, 2024 to 5 May 2024. The infrastructure manager shall, within 15 calendar days after the transition period, ensure the recalculation and compensate for the difference in payment collected during the transitional period.
